Description
The Ford Escort and its sporty EXP sibling shared a dashboard with Mercury's Lynx and LN7 throughout the mid-1980s and into 1990. These front-wheel-drive compacts put their dashboards right up against a steeply raked windshield, intensifying UV exposure and heat buildup on the factory vinyl pad. Cracking and discoloration develop rapidly, and by now most surviving examples show significant surface damage. This Dashtop molded dash cover is precision-formed from UV-stable ABS plastic to match the Escort-family instrument panel, installing directly over your original factory dashboard, which must remain in place to serve as a solid foundation.
Installation is quick and requires no special tools. Clean the existing dash surface, apply the included silicone adhesive, and press the Dashtop overlay into position. After curing, the cover bonds permanently and provides a smooth, crack-free surface that resists future UV damage.
